2016 favourites
January 09, 2017
Hey guys. Happy new year! Hope this year is great for you and hope it's an amazing one! 2017 is when I'm going to truly get back on my blog. 2017 will be all about my makeup life.
So my favourites from 2016 have been;
These brushes are a God send like oh my God. They nailed these brushes, these are my favourite drugstore brushes to use and the only eye brushes I use! The real techniques eye set didn't work well with me. I done a whole blog post on these brushes way back last year. I loved these so much I even sent my mum a set of them for christmas! Whether you're on a budget or only purchase high end products, I highly recommend that you try these out!
Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Foundation - $39
This foundation is so nice for dry skin it's hydrating, it doesn't cling to dry patches and has a nice finish to it. It is very dewy so if you like a good matte foundation I'd recommend using a matte Translucent powder. This has been my favourite foundation of 2016 because I don't like the Tarte bb cream anymore. A reason for that is the coverage, it was pretty bad honestly and I'd find that it would be off within a few hours. The coverage on the Rainforest of the Sea foundation has way better coverage.
Gleam Kit by Anastasia Beverly Hills - $40
This kit has 4 deep pans of highlighter. They are silver/pink shades. I wanted something a little different from the gold highlighters that I'm used to. I'm so glad I got it because I use it ALL the time!! It blends smoothly on the skin and you can build up the highlighter. Whether you want a slight glow or an all out fierce glow. Crushed Pearl and Starburst are without a doubt my favourites. I definitely recommend Gleam in my honest opinion it's one of the prettier glow kits from ABH.
Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper - $20
Remember how I always talked about my Stila liner and how great I thought it was? Boy was I wrong, so completely wrong. I had friends telling me the Kat Von D Tattoo liner was amazing and I'm like yeah right. Skip forward to getting a sample size of Trooper in my Ipsy bag and do you think I could put it down? Not a chance. Whenever I do my liner I know I can count on Trooper to give me the best liner. Plus it so easy to match the liner on both of my eyes. If you're a beginner get the KVD liner because it glides so smoothly and it's so easy to fix if you make a mistake. It does not have a felt tip it's more of like a fine paintbrush but wow the precision is impeccable. I have already purchased a full size tube.
Urban Decay Naked Concealer - $28
You guys already know my thoughts on the naked Concealer from Urban Decay from last year but here's a quick lil recap. This concealer is creaseless and it sets nicely. It covers up any imperfections that need a little help. It buffs into my foundation and it doesn't stick out like a sore thumb. I haven't had any problems with it clinging to my dry patches which is great! This is the first concealer I've tried and loved right off the bat! (I've had my fair share of crappy concealers.)
Freeman Masks - $4.29
I bought these masks at Ulta when they were buy one get one half off. So the total was about $6. Such a good price for two products that you can get multiple uses out of! I got 2 kinds; avocado and oatmeal mask, the second was apple cider vinegar mask that is actually a multi use. You can use it as a cleanser, a facial scrub, a mask and it also tones your face. This leaves my face so incredibly soft, I've even got my husband hooked on using this mask! They make your face feel incredibly refreshed and I'd recommend adding face masks into your routine if you haven't already!
Tarte Maracuja Oil $48 (full size or travel size) $15
This product is a game changer and a life changer!! I didn't know how my skin was going to react to oils so I never picked up the Maracuja oil. I received a sample size of it in my Ipsy bag and a huge thank you to Ipsy for including this amazing product. I use this when I'm going to bed as it rejuvenates my face making it soft and little to no dry patches. I apply it to my Real Techniques damp blender and it makes my foundation looks so incredibly smooth and flawless. I will never go without this product again!! It has so many uses and a little goes a very long way!! I still have a lot of it left in my sample and I use it almost all the time.

Modern Renaissance Palette by Anastasia Beverly Hills - $42
This is a holy grail product for me! One of my favourite eyeshadow palettes ever! The only downside would be the brush bc I hate that it's scratchy at least the black side of the brush is. This palette is so blendable and every color compliments each other amazingly. This palette is my go to and I haven't hit pan yet which I'm surprised by. Another one of my favourite things about this palette is the design it's so pretty, I love suede and velvet so this suede like palette is right up my alley. I'd definitely recommend this palette whether you're a newbie to makeup or super familiar with makeup you need this palette in your collection. It's a must have!
Real Techniques Blender - $6.99
I use this blender pretty much all the time. It applies my foundation so flawlessly, I was blown away the first time I used it and that's when I knew it'd be very seldom when I used a foundation brush. I get it a bit damp but not dripping wet, you want to squeeze out any excess water that's in there. I do my eyes first so I usually have my blender ready to go and I usually leave it to rest on a piece of kitchen towel so it grabs extra moisture. This Real Techniques blender is pretty cheap when you compare it to the price of a Beauty Blender. I do not like the Real Techniques brushes at all (as I've mentioned) but this blender is such a good product from them that I'd buy another!
Catch you guys next week!
